Career Day 2008

Geography Career day here at Mary Washington is always fun for me and the rest of the faculty. As many of you may remember, four or five or our graduates come back and talk with our current students about their jobs. For Dawn, Joe, Melina, Donald, and the rest of the faculty, we get to catch up with former students and we really enjoy the successes they’ve had since they left Mary Wash.

UMW’s New President

Today, the Board of Visitors introduced Dr. Judy Hample as Mary Washington’s 8th President – and first female president.

Dr. Hample is currently the Chancellor Pennsylvania’s 14 campus public univeristy system. In other words, she’s been in a position where college presidents answer to her.

Plans for Monroe Hall

Here are the preliminary plans for the Geography offices and labs after Monroe is renovated. The best news is that we keep the space known to most of you as "The Cart lab." In order to schedule an increasing number of physical geography, GIS, cartography, and remote sensing lab sessions, however, we do have to partition the space. We hope to make this partitition movable so we can still open up space for both planned events and informal gatherings
